RNC Statement on National Women’s Small Business Month

WASHINGTON – RNC Chairman Reince Priebus and RNC Co-Chair Sharon Day issued the following statement marking the beginning of National Women’s Small Business Month:

“This month we celebrate women small business owners for their tireless work, their entrepreneurial spirit, and their contributions to the American economy,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

“Today women own 7.8 million businesses in America. We want that number to grow, so new businesses can create more jobs and expand opportunities to pursue the American Dream. But that requires a president whose policies will help women grow their companies, not a president who dismissively tells them, ‘You didn’t build that,’ as President Obama has.”

“As a former business owner, I know what it takes to run a successful enterprise, make payroll, balance budgets, and create jobs,” said RNC Co-Chair Sharon Day. “We champion the women who have taken the risk of starting their own companies, putting in sleepless nights and making sacrifices to be successful in today’s difficult economy.

“There is no doubt that President Obama has made life harder for women business owners. Rules, regulations, and ObamaCare have weighed down businesses. And if President Obama is re-elected and raises taxes as he has promised, small businesses will pay a heavy price.

“Women business owners cannot afford four more years like the last four. We want to see ‘Now Hiring’ signs in shop windows and storefronts again, and that means America must hire Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan on November 6th.”
