Bradley Byrne

Congressman Byrne was first elected to serve Alabama’s First Congressional District in December of last year. Bradley immediately got to work serving the citizens of Washington, Baldwin, Mobile, Escambia, Monroe and Clarke Counties. Bradley will once again face Democrat candidate Burton LeFlore who he defeated in 2013 when he first ran for Congress to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Jo Bonner.  Bradley received 71% of the vote in 2013 and we expect similar results on November 4.

Bradley was born and raised in Mobile. He attended the University Military School there before completing his undergraduate degree at Duke University. Bradley returned to Alabama to earn a J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law. He practiced in Mobile for more than 30 years.

First elected to office in 1994, Bradley served two terms as a member of the Alabama State Board of Education. In 2002 and again in 2006, he was elected to the State Senate for District 32. While in the senate, Bradley served on the Education Committee, Education Budget Committee and the Judiciary Committee. He also chaired the Joint Oversight Committee on State Parks.

As a congressman, Bradley continues to support education. He serves on the House Armed Services Committee, Natural Resources Committee, Education & the Workforce Committee, and several subcommittees.

Congressman Byrne has upheld his promise to put together an aggressive outreach operation. He continuously hosts town hall meetings throughout his district and encourages citizens to attend and voice their concerns for their community. The town halls have been extremely popular and have served to strengthen the bond between the congressman and his constituents.

Congressman Bradley Byrne has been in Washington for less than a year. Since that time, he has established himself as a strong advocate for Alabama’s first congressional district and is fighting the federal government’s overreach led by President Obama. The Alabama Republican Party applauds his efforts and is eager to watch his progress continue.

STATEWIDE CANDIDATE
Jim Zeigler

Attorney Jim Zeigler will face Democrat Miranda Joseph in the general election for a chance to serve as Alabama’s State Auditor. Zeigler is campaigning on a plan to turn the State Auditor’s office into a “strong monitor of how our tax dollars are spent in Montgomery”.A native of Sylacauga, Zeigler graduated from the University of Alabama in 1972 with a degree in Public Administration. Zeigler and was elected to the Public Service Commission in 1975 when he became the youngest statewide elected official in the state of Alabama at 27 years old.Zeigler promises to stand strong against wasteful spending and says he would always be willing to listen to state employees who have suspicion that wasteful spending is occurring.”Most of the cases that I’ve handled, all of the cases that I’ve handled against spending came from honest employees who could not get anything done through their channels,” he said. “They report to Jim Zeigler, knowing I’ll investigate it.”As one of only two statewide constitutional offices not featuring an incumbent, the Alabama Republican Party is working to ensure we keep the State Auditor’s seat red. The Alabama State Auditor is responsible for the appointment of one of the three members of the Board of Registrars in 66 of Alabama’s 67 counties. State law gives the authority to the Governor, Commissioner of Agriculture & Industries and Auditor to make appointments to the Board of Registrars. These appointments are extremely important and directly affect our state’s election process. The loss of the Auditor’s office would allow Democrats to appoint 66 members of the Board of Registrars throughout the state. We must not let the Democrat cronies back in the courthouse where we have worked for decades to ensure that we have qualified people serving in that capacity.

We encourage you all to support Republican Jim Zeigler and help keep Alabama’s State Auditor seat red!

Bob Fincher is the Republican nominee for Alabama House of Representatives, District 37. The district includes the southern part of Cleburne County, all of Randolph County, and much of northern and western Chambers County. Bob will face off against Democrat Josh Burns and independent Guy Kelly in the general election.

Bob has worked in the Republican Party for over 40 years, holding numerous posts on the state and local levels.  He has served as secretary and chairman of the Randolph County Republican Party and is currently in his fifth term as Republican Chairman for Congressional District 3. In his role as chairman, Bob is a member of the Alabama Republican Party State Executive Committee’s Steering Committee.

A teacher of history, government and economics, Bob spent 31 years teaching in the public school system. Bob has served as a board member and president of the Randolph County Partners in Education. On a regional level, Bob was appointed a member to the selection committee for the president of Southern Union State Community College and as a member, and later chairman, of the Statewide Health Coordinating Council.

The decision to run for office for Bob Fincher was an easy one; he feels that he truly has something to offer his district. He says he has no desire to become a career politician and is in support of term limits for the legislature. Bob is confident that his past experiences have prepared him to serve as a state representative. In his own words, “I have showed a willingness to work with those from the other party in pursuit of the public good. I will listen and be available to all of the citizens. I am deeply concerned about the direction our country is headed. We have become a society which encourages government dependence rather than self-reliance. I see the foundations upon which our culture was built being eroded and swept away. I promise you honesty and transparency in all that I do. No one will work harder to bring jobs and economic development to this area. You deserve no less. I ask for your prayers and your support.”

The Alabama Republican Party is delighted to have Bob Fincher as its Republican nominee. We have worked closely with Bob through the State Executive Committee and know that he will serve his district and its citizens with dedication and courage.

Dr. Larry Stutts is the Republican candidate for State Senate District 6 (Colbert, Franklin, Marion, Lauderdale and Lawrence Counties). Dr. Stutts is taking on 32-year Democrat incumbent Roger Bedford in November. ALGOP fully believes it is time for Bedford – one of the most liberal members of the State Senate – to retire and make way for a responsible conservative in Senate District 6.

Dr. Stutts received his undergraduate degree and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University and subsequently practiced as a veterinarian for several years. Realizing that God had a different plan for him, Dr. Stutts returned to college to earn a degree in obstetrics and gynecology from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. Dr. Stutts has served as an obstetrician and gynecologist in the Shoals area for 22 years.

Dr. Stutts believes “the vision of our founding fathers was for citizen-legislators in public service, not career politicians.” As a member of the health care profession, he knows that his experience and knowledge will be an asset in the State House. Dr. Stutts stated that he is “ready, willing and able to fight the overreach of the federal government in forcing ObamaCare on our citizens. Local communities and local hospitals are struggling to meet basic needs. The system can be improved with less regulation and more free-enterprise principles.”

In addition to being a medical doctor, Dr. Stutts still owns and operates the farm that has been in his family for three generations. He is president of the Quad-Cities Auburn Club, on the Board of Directors for the Colbert County Red Cross, on the Board of Directors and Membership Chairman of the Tuscumbia Kiwanis Club, President of the Colbert County Cattlemen’s Association, on the Board of Directors and former Chairman of Covenant Christian School, on the Board of Directors for the Northwest Alabama Healthcare Authority and an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Tuscumbia.

The Alabama Republican Party is blessed to have a candidate as qualified as Dr. Larry Stutts as our nominee for Senate District 6. He will be an asset to our state and will serve his district proudly.
