Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl issued the following statement on the signing of the COVID Vaccine Passport Ban into law:
“The COVID Vaccine Passport Ban (SB267) is now law in the state of Alabama – protecting the privacy rights of all our citizens. With this preemptive action, Alabamians will no longer have to worry about federal overreach from the Biden Administration, which has considered mandating the vaccine and requiring people to show proof they’ve been vaccinated – a clear violation of our civil liberties.
“This piece of legislation was a priority bill for the Alabama Republican Party and I am proud of the hard work of its sponsors: Senator Arthur Orr and Representative Paul Lee. I have presented them both with the ALGOP Chairman’s Commendation award for their outstanding service to the people of Alabama and defending the values of the ALGOP.
“I would also like to thank Governor Kay Ivey for her commitment on this issue. She has long said she would not support a vaccine mandate, and she held true to her word by signing the ban into law.
“The Alabama Republican Party remains committed to protecting our freedoms and standing up for the Constitution as written by our founding fathers. These aren’t just Alabama values. They are American values, and we will continue to speak out on these issues.”
