Governor Ron DeSantis is Coming to Alabama!

The Alabama Republican Party is excited to announce that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will be the special guest at its annual Winter Dinner.

“Governor DeSantis needs no introduction, and I am thrilled to welcome one of America’s strongest Republican leaders to the State of Alabama. This is an amazing opportunity for our state, as well as the Alabama Republican Party, ” said ALGOP Chairman John Wahl.

The ALGOP Winter Dinner – which traditionally features some of the biggest names in Conservative politics – will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 in the Birmingham Sheraton Ballroom. Tickets are $250 per person, or $400 per couple, and can be purchased on the ALGOP website: www.algop.org.

“The Governor is well known for his common sense conservative values, and defending the people of Florida from government overreach. Under his leadership Florida’s economy is soaring. He has a consistent record of cutting wasteful spending and achieving record budget surpluses, and won re-election by over 1.5 million votes, the largest raw vote margin for a gubernatorial candidate in Florida history. We are looking forward to hosting him here in the Yellowhammer state,” said Chairman Wahl.

This event will be closed to the press. All press inquiries should be directed to ALGOP Communications Director Jeannie Negrón Burniston at jeannie@algop.org.

Governor DeSantis biography:

Ron DeSantis is Florida’s 46th Governor. An honors graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law, he worked his way through college and earned a commission in the U.S. Navy as a JAG officer. During his active-duty service, Governor DeSantis deployed to Iraq as an adviser in support of the SEAL mission in Fallujah, Ramadi, and the greater Al Anbar province. His military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service and the Iraq Campaign Medal.

Governor DeSantis would go on to serve as a federal prosecutor – where he targeted and convicted child predators – and was elected to Congress in 2012. An advocate for term limits and a balanced budget amendment, he also spearheaded oversight efforts to expose malfeasance at the IRS, abuse of authority at other federal agencies, and helped enact reforms at the Veterans Administration with an emphasis on mental health.

He was elected governor in 2018, and would go on to win re-election in 2022 by a historic 20 points.

Governor DeSantis and his wife, Casey, are the proud parents of three children.
