Governor Bentley Continues Long-Term Recovery Tour of Tornado-Damaged Communities
MONTGOMERY – Governor Robert Bentley will be in DeKalb, St. Clair, and Cullman Counties on Wednesday as part of his week-long tour revisiting areas that were impacted by the April 27, 2011, tornado outbreak. The Governor will meet with storm survivors and will discuss with them the continued, long-term recovery process.
At 9:30 a.m., Governor Bentley will be in Rainsville to meet with the White family. The family survived the storm, and with the help of faith-based groups and the DeKalb County Long-Term Recovery Committee, the family is in the process of rebuilding.
At 1:00 p.m., Governor Bentley will be at the Shoal Creek Valley Fire Department, which suffered significant damage and the loss of most of its firefighting gear in the tornado. Repairs to the fire department’s facilities have been underway since shortly after the tornado.
At 3:00 p.m., Governor Bentley will be at the Busy Bee Café in Cullman to meet with storm survivors and others involved in the long-term recovery effort in Cullman County. The Busy Bee was destroyed when a tornado moved through Downtown Cullman. Its owner is planning a grand re-opening to coincide with the anniversary of the storm.
