Welcome to the Chairman’s Blog! I am looking forward to sharing news, events and happenings with you as I travel the state and work within the Party to keep in touch with you on our mission together.
The last month has been overwhelming with good wishes, prayers and support. It is a clear message to me that our team is ready to regroup for the upcoming elections. From speaking to County Committees, College Republicans, the Alabama Federation of Republican Women’s Steering Committee to meeting with Governor Robert Bentley, the GOP Senate Caucus, Senator Del Marsh, Speaker Mike Hubbard, Secretary of State John Merrill and numerous others; to attending the State of the State Message, having the ALGOP recognized by Congresswoman Martha Roby at the Selma 50th Dinner and representing ALGOP at First Lady Bentley’s Anti-Domestic Violence Press Conference; to sharing Party moments with Senator Richard Shelby and Senator Jeff Sessions; to working with staff and learning the simplicities of “What’s the HQ door code?”, “Where are the envelopes kept?” or “Where is the nearest Wal-Mart?” – it’s been a busy 29 days.
As I type, I am working on plans for the Summer Dinner and will be inching closer to sharing more solid information with you all. Summer fun is coming our way!
Feel free to contact me anytime at terry@algop.org to share your thoughts, ideas and concerns. I depend upon our Republicans in your home counties to be the eyes and the ears of our organization. No one knows home better than you!
Happy Birthday to the Republican Party! On this date in 1854, Ripon, Wisconsin gave the Grand Old Party a home to begin our journey.
The Party of Lincoln…the Party of justice…the Party of anti-slavery…the Party of more freedom and less government. The history is rich with stories, trials and tribulations, uphill battles and glorious victories. Yet the story is still being written.
As we celebrate today let us remember all of those who came before us to pave the pathway for the Republican Party and may we honor their service by continuing to serve with our hearts and our conservative principles.
