Alabama Republican Party Chairman Bill Armistead called out Taylor Stewart, Democrat candidate for Senate District 12, calling him a ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’ for being a liberal and pretending he is a conservative. He said voters in Calhoun, Clay and Talladega Counties need to look beyond the ‘sheep’s clothing’ to see that Taylor Stewart is a liberal’s liberal.
“Every General Election, you have Democrat candidates who try to fool voters into thinking they are conservative, when in fact they are the most liberal candidates on the ballot. A case in point is liberal Democrat Taylor Stewart who is running against State Senator Del Marsh, R-Anniston, who serves as President Pro Tem of the Senate,” Armistead noted.
“In both state and national elections, Democrats cannot run a campaign based on their true beliefs, so they pretend like they are conservatives. But, we know that only the most liberal of Democrats in Alabama have remained with the party of Barack Obama. Conservative Democrats have flocked to the Republican Party in droves since Barack Obama was elected president,” Armistead added.
“Stewart claims he’s ‘an independent guy’ and ‘no liberal’, but a quick look at his past political donations shows his true colors. Taylor Stewart has donated over $12,000 to the Democrat National Committee, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and other liberal candidates. As recently as 2012, Stewart was donating money to Hillary Clinton! Stewart promises to work for the people, but he can’t even honestly tell them who he supports.
“And who is supporting Stewart? Just look at the numbers on the Secretary of State’s website and you will find that over $800,000 of Stewart’s campaign contributions have come from personal loans or family members. That is three-fourths of all the money he has raised! There is no doubt Taylor Stewart is a liberal’s liberal.
“Since President Obama proclaimed last week that his name might not be on the ballot this year but his policies are, Democrats in most state and national races are running away from the policies of Barack Obama as though he has been infected with the Ebola virus.
“Yet, if these people win, they will fall right in line with the titular head of their party, Barack Obama,” Armistead said. “That’s why they are ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing’. They pass themselves off as one thing, but in reality they are something else.”
Armistead added that Senate District 12 voters already have a true conservative in Senator Marsh, who is also the most powerful member of the Upper Chamber.
“Senator Marsh has kept his promises to cut wasteful government spending, bring good-paying jobs to the people and prevent tax increases. He is a fiscal conservative who led the charge to pass the Taxpayer Savings and Fiscal Responsibility Act that saved taxpayers over $1 billion a year.
“Senator Del Marsh leads by example and is a senator Alabama can truly be proud of. Taylor Stewart is a liberal’s liberal bent on pulling the wool over voters’ eyes. The people of Calhoun, Clay and Talladega Counties deserve to know the truth!
“Beware Taylor Stewart, a ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’ if ever there was one,” Armistead concluded.
