WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Co-Chairman Sharon Day released the following statement regarding President Obama’s record on women:
“President Obama and his fellow Democrats have spent yet another week making patently false accusations about a contrived ‘war on women.’ With each passing day, their hypocrisy becomes more and more outrageous. This desperate attempt to distract voters from their record of failure is not only cynical but also insulting to women across America,” said RNC Co-Chairman Sharon Day. “And now Democrats are attacking women who make a choice to stay at home and raise a family.
“In reality, the past few years under Barack Obama have been devastating for American women. Since he took office, the number of employed women has decreased by 683,000, and many more women have given up looking for work altogether. Even worse, the poverty rate among women has skyrocketed to the highest level in seventeen years. If there’s a war on women in America, it’s being waged from the White House.
“And as it turns out, in the White House–Obama’s own house–women are paid less than men. According to figures from last year, the median salary for female employees on the White House staff is 18 percent less than that of their male counterparts.
“At kitchen tables and in the job market, it’s clear that women are suffering. Gas, groceries, and healthcare are more expensive. Wives and mothers struggle to make ends meet and fear for their children’s futures. Businesswomen wonder what regulations and taxes Obama will force on them next. For the sake of women across the country, we cannot afford four more years of this president, his failed policies, and his repulsive, cynical politics.”
