The Alabama Republican Party recently conducted a poll of registered voters across the State of Alabama, and results show “protecting children from woke policies” is the top issue for voters in the Yellowhammer State. The poll surveyed registered voters across the state on a range of issues, from woke policies and access to abortion, to cutting taxes and increasing broadband.
Of those surveyed, 36% said concerns over woke policies was the most important issue to them when asked the question, “Which of the following issues is most important to you personally?”
When broken out by party, protecting children from woke policies is overwhelmingly the top issue for both Republicans (49%) and Independents (30%), and a strong third even with Democrat voters (15%).
“People are tired of a liberal federal Department of Education trying to brainwash our children with their progressive agenda. Even members of the Democrat party have had enough. We need to let children be children again. Education should be about reading, writing and arithmetic, and not social engineering. It’s time to stop teaching our children divisive concepts that push woke policies and transgender lifestyles, and instead support returning control to parents and local teachers. There is nothing more important to the Alabama Republican Party than protecting our children from indoctrination,” said Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl.
The poll showed protecting children from woke policies was also incredibly important to the African-American community (25%), ranking as their second most important issue, just 2% behind and within the margin of error of first place.
“As I travel across our state speaking to voters, this issue is the one that I hear from every demographic – especially when talking with parents and grandparents in rural areas that make up Alabama’s Black Belt. I believe concerns over woke polices helped the Republican Party flip 14 school board seats in rural and minority districts during the 2022 election cycle. It doesn’t matter what your background is, nobody want to have their children indoctrinated,” said Chairman Wahl.
Other issues listed in the survey included: cutting government spending, reducing taxes on individuals, prison and justice reform, economic development, expanding medicaid, establishing a state lottery, making access to abortions easier, and increasing access to broadband. Establishing a state lottery (19%) and cutting government spending (12%) were next on the priority list for voters.
The poll was conducted by the Alabama Republican Party, and surveyed 1,610 respondents from a random stratified selection of registered voters across the State of Alabama. The sample has a Margin of Error of +/- 3.2%.
