JUDGE JIM PERDUE ANNOUNCES SWITCH TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

Montgomery, AL – Crenshaw County Probate Judge, Jim Perdue, announced today that he is joining the Republican Party.

ALGOP Chairman Armistead responds to the party change:

“We welcome Judge Perdue’s decision to join the Republican Party as it just reinforces the fact that today’s Democrats are not the same as your grandfather’s Democrat Party.  As I have said many times before, we welcome elected officials of another party who believe in the traditional conservative values of the Republican Party. However, those who want to switch parties just to put an “R” by their name in order to win the next election need not apply.

“Democrat Party Chairman Mark Kennedy has made it clear that the Alabama Democratic Party of today is the party of Barack Obama whom he says Alabama Democrats need to embrace. As hard as he may try, Judge Kennedy is not going to convince Alabamians that Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, House Minority Leader Craig Ford, and Senate Minority Leader Vivian Figures represent Alabama values. Now it looks as if they can’t even convince elected Democrats to stay hitched to this “train wreck” led by these Democrat leaders.

“Judge Perdue is the seventh Alabama Democrat to break ranks from Obama/Kennedy Democrat Party in the last few months to join the Alabama Republican Party. The list includes a State Senator and County Commissioner from Talladega County, a District Attorney from Pickens County, a District Judge from Cullman County, a Sheriff from Tallapoosa County, and a Revenue Commissioner from Walker County. This switch by Judge Purdue makes him the first Republican elected official from Crenshaw County and I am sure that he will be joined by more after the 2014 election,” concludes Chairman Armistead.

Governor Robert Bentley and Crenshaw County Republican Chair Suze Butts both welcomed  Perdue’s decision to join the Alabama Republican Party.
