Senator Shelby to Visit Sumter County

On Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 11:30 A.M. CST, U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) will visit Sumter County. The visit marks the fifty-third stop in the Senator’s statewide tour, during which he will visit each of Alabama’s 67 counties. Shelby issued the following statement on the visit:
“Throughout my time in the United States Senate, I have made it a top priority to visit all of the 67 counties in Alabama every year,” said Shelby. “The focus of my statewide travel will be to hear from my constituents about the impact of the Obama Administration’s policies on middle class families, job creation, and economic growth. I believe these visits are an excellent opportunity for us to discuss the important issues currently facing our state and nation.”

The visit is open to the press and Senator Shelby will be available to the media before and after. Visits will typically last 30 minutes to one hour. Media interested in attending should contact Torrie Miller in Senator Shelby’s press office.
Since 1987, the beginning of Shelby’s first term in the U.S. Senate, he has held more than 1,900 county visits in Alabama. This visit will mark the 1,929th county visit of his career.
