County Sheriff’s Race Declared a Tie, Heads to Recount

The Conecuh County Sheriff’s race between Republican Mike Blackmon and Democrat Randy Brock was declared a tie following the certification of all votes today in Evergreen.

Blackmon had been down by one vote in early tabulations.

The race now heads to a statutory recount on Friday, November 18th

“I feel positive about today’s outcome and fully believe the continued momentum will carry me to a victory on Friday,” said Blackmon.

If still tied following the recount, the race will be decided by game of chance, per Alabama Code 17-12-23.

“The Alabama Republican Party has always defended people’s rights and freedoms, and that includes making sure every ballot has been counted.  We support Mike Blackmon and his bid for sheriff as this election moves into its next phase,” said Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl.
