Chapman: College Students Join Chapman for State of the State Activities

Several members of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity from Troy University joined Secretary of State Beth Chapman to discuss state government issues before the annual State of the State address.  The young men toured the State Capitol and learned about the functions of the secretary of state’s office: from elections to business services.

Following their meeting with Chapman, the fraternity brothers were able to watch the State of the State address as it was being delivered by Governor Robert Bentley.

“It is important that the younger generation is aware of what is going on in their government,” said Chapman.  “It is one thing to learn about government from a textbook; it is another to learn from seeing it in action.  I hope that we have more opportunities to share experiences like this with students in the future.”
