Alabamians were awed by their Treasurer this summer at the annual C. Mac Johnson Farmers Market, when he was named the winner of the corn shucking competition. Young shucked 10 ears of corn in a matter of seconds! He claimed the victory would be his greatest accomplishment in his native-Nebraskan mother’s eyes.
In his first campaign for Treasurer in 2010, Boozer began his stump speech saying, “I’m Young Boozer, and yes, that’s my real name” and the ad closed with Boozer stating, “Young Boozer: funny name, serious leadership.” We may not see that ad again, however, as the Democrats didn’t qualify anyone to run for Treasurer.
