Armistead: Republican Candidates Are Ready To Take On The Democrats

BIRMINGHAM, AL – With most of the election returns in, Public Service Commissioner and former Alabama Republican Party Chairman, Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh, has been declared the winner in the run-off election between her and Chip Brown for the Republican nomination for President of the Public Service Commission.

“I offer my congratulations to Twinkle for her hard-fought victory and pledge my support to her as we prepare to take on the only Democrat still holding state-wide office in Alabama – Lucy Baxley,” stated Bill Armistead, Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party. “Twinkle has been an avid supporter and protector of Alabama consumers during her time on the Public Service Commission and there is no question that she is the best choice in the general election to lead the Commission.”

Commissioner Cavanaugh offered her congratulations on a well-run race to her opponent, Chip Brown, and said, “I must thank my fellow Republicans for the confidence they have placed in me as we work to drive the last remaining statewide-elected Democrat from office and make Alabama among the brightest red states in the nation.

“Alabamians also needs a PSC President who can stand up against Barack Obama and the liberals at the EPA so our utility rates remain affordable and our industrial recruitment advantage over northern states with higher rates remains intact.  We can’t afford a part-time, status quo caretaker like Lucy as PSC President. We need someone with the energy and vision and ability to transform the agency into a real job creation tool – one that can be a true asset to Alabama’s economic development efforts,” Cavanaugh added.

“With the exception of our Presidential nominee, the Republican candidate slate is now set and we are more than ready to take on the Democrats in the fall,” Armistead continued. “As Alabama Democratic Party Chairman Mark Kennedy has repeatedly shown by embracing Barack Obama and his radical leftist agenda, Democrats like Lucy Baxley are out of step with Alabama values and simply cannot be trusted to lead Alabama or our country!

“This November we look forward to offering Alabamians a clear choice and we will continue to fight for conservative values from the Court House to the White House,” concluded Armistead.
