Armistead: Democratic Party More Out of Touch with Alabama Values Than Ever Before

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Bill Armistead, Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, released the following statement regarding President Obama coming out in support of gay marriage:

“My counterpart at the Alabama Democratic Party, Mark Kennedy, just last week confirmed his support for President Barack Obama, once again claiming that he is a ‘good President worthy of our praise’ in an email to his Party’s faithful. Today, President Obama bowed to considerable pressure from his radical leftist donor base and came out in favor of the legalization of marriage for gay and lesbian couples.  It’s hard to imagine a policy position that is further from traditional Alabama values, and yet Judge Kennedy believes Alabama voters should embrace Obama and vote to give him another term in the White House.

“If it wasn’t obvious before, it should be crystal clear now – the Democratic Party, as led by Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Mark Kennedy, is completely out of touch with Alabama and the traditional family values in which we believe. I’ve known Mark Kennedy for a long time and never imagined he would ever get this far out of step with what the voters in this state believe, but his continued support for Obama and his radical agenda has proven otherwise.”
