ALGOP Statement on the Passing of Alabama GOP House Member Jim Patterson

Alabama Republican Party Chairman Terry Lathan made the following statement regarding Alabama GOP House member Jim Patterson:

“The Alabama Republican Party is deeply saddened to hear of Representative Jim Patterson’s sudden passing. A public servant, father, husband, colleague and friend, Representative Patterson was dearly loved. His presence will be sorely missed throughout our state and in the halls of the state house.”

“Representative Patterson lived a life dedicated to serving the people of Alabama. He was elected to represent various areas of Madison County in District 21 of the Alabama House of Representatives in 2010. During his time as a house member, Representative Patterson was known for his dedication to causes he was passionate about, most notably, autism therapy for children. He sponsored the well-known autism bill which required insurance companies to cover autism therapy. His bill passed in the 2017 legislative session.”

“Prior to that, he served on the Madison County School Board where he was elected as president three times. Representative Patterson attended Flint River Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.”

“Our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers go to Representative Patterson’s wife, Susan, and their three children. We are thankful for the many years he served Alabama so well. The outpouring of love and honor from Jim’s friends and constituents is a true testament to the honorable place he held in our hearts. May those who serve the public role model Jim’s focus of always putting his people first.”
