ALGOP Special Primary Runoff Election Results for House District 49

The ALGOP special primary runoff election to fill the vacancy in Alabama House District 49 occurred today in Bibb, Chilton and Shelby Counties.

Although results are still unofficial, it appears that Russell Bedsole is the Alabama Republican Party nominee.

Provisional ballots will be counted on September 8, 2020 and certification of votes will occur on September 16, 2020.

The special general election will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2020.

The vacancy in House District 49 was created when State Representative April Weaver announced her resignation shortly before the end of the legislative session. Rep. Weaver was appointed to serve in the Trump administration as a regional director of the Department of Health and Human Services.
