Provisional ballots will be counted on April 6, 2021, and the Party will certify the election to the Secretary of State on April 7, 2021.

Despite results not being official, it appears April Weaver is the Republican nominee for Senate District 14, and Leigh Hulsey and Kenneth Paschal will advance to the Republican primary runoff election scheduled for Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

“We are excited that after spending time working for the Trump Administration, former State Rep. April Weaver will be our nominee for Senate District 14. She will work hard to keep that seat in the Republican column and be a strong representative for the residents of Bibb, Chilton and Shelby Counties,” said Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl.

“Congratulations also to Leigh Hulsey and Kenneth Paschal on advancing to the run-off election. We offer our thanks to all the candidates in both races. Running for political office is a huge commitment and sacrifice, and we wish them the very best,” he continued.

The vacancy in Senate District 14 occurred when former State Sen. Cam Ward was appointed to head the Board of Pardons and Paroles by Governor Kay Ivey. The House District 73 seat became open when former State Rep. Matt Fridy was elected to the Alabama Civil Court of Appeals.
