Birmingham, AL – Chairman Bill Armistead announced yesterday that the Alabama Republican Party had welcomed a new position to their staff, Director of Minority Outreach. The position has been filled by Montgomery businessman, Troy Towns.
Troy has been active in the Alabama Republican Party for several years and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Montgomery Minority GOP. Troy was recently highlighted as one of Alabama’s Rising Republican Stars. The father of four, Troy and his wife are very active in their Montgomery community. Troy has been the co-owner of an optical business for many years and frequently speaks at churches, civic meetings and political events.
Chairman Armistead made the following statement:
“The conservative philosophy of the Republican party has to appeal to a broad range of Alabamians including individuals with diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. As I travel the state, I find many African-Americans, Hispanics and others with diverse backgrounds have become disenchanted with the false promises of President Obama and Democrats in general. They rightfully are seeking alternatives to their historic support of the Democrat Party and their candidates.
“The time has come for the Alabama Republican Party to reach out to these communities to let them know that we welcome them into our party. Montgomery businessman Troy Towns has joined the staff at ALGOP to assist in our effort to reach out to and welcome minorities into our party. Troy’s passion for spreading conservative principles is truly inspiring. Troy has a vision to expand the ‘Republican tent’ across the state by encouraging all Alabamians to ‘vote their values.’ When they do so, they will see that the Republican Party offers more to them than the Democrat Party when it comes to providing jobs and opportunities for all.”
