The Alabama Republican Party is now accepting applications for candidates seeking to be the Republican nominee in Alabama House District 47.
The position became open following the passing of State Representative David Wheeler (R-Vestavia Hills) last month. At the time qualifying closed, Rep. Wheeler was the only qualified candidate for the district. Pursuant to state law, the ALGOP is tasked with choosing a nominee to replace him on the General Election ballot.
“We are going to work hard to look for the right candidate, to listen to the constituents in the district, work with local Republicans and our committee members to find the right candidate to represent District 47,” ALGOP Chairman John Wahl said.
Interested parties should submit a Declaration of Intent form (available for download at www.algop.org), a cover letter, their resume, and any references they wish to include. All application packages must be emailed to ALGOP Executive Director Reed Phillips at rphillips@algop.org.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 29, 2022 at 5 p.m. CDT.
Once the application window has closed, all potential candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview.
Alabama House District 47 includes portions of Vestavia Hills, Hoover, and unincorporated Jefferson County.
