The following statement was released by Alabama Republican Party Chairman, Bill Armistead, regarding the propaganda contained in recent AEA internal emails:
“The union bosses at the Alabama Education Association are at it again. They cannot argue against the Education Options Act with the facts, therefore, they have again resorted to spreading false propaganda in an attempt to deceive their membership and outright lie to them about the contents of this education reform legislation. The AEA staff has been exposed sending emails1 to their members which perpetuate outright lies about this legislation. There is nothing in the Education Options Act that would void insurance or retirement programs as AEA states. Tenure in traditional public schools is not affected in any way.
“Furthermore, the paid staffers at the AEA fail to mention improving education of our students, not even one time. If bureaucrats at the AEA were half as committed to the education of Alabama’s children as they are to intentionally perpetuating lies to protect their own deep coffers, Alabama’s children and teachers would be far better off. The AEA should apologize to their members for misleading them on the Education Options Act. It is time that we come together to improve the education of our students once and for all. This can not happen as long as AEA continues to play politics with our children.”

1URGENT ACTION ON CHARTER SCHOOL LEGISLATION NEEDED
SOS (Save Our Schools) Rally was very informative this past weekend, several senators (democratic and republican) spoke against this bill. The one statement they all emphasized is that WE as educators, bus drivers, & support personnel, have the power of voice to stop this from happening. You may be anti-AEA, NEA, but you are PRO-Education, because you are education!!! If this bill passes Education as we now know it, Retirement as we know it, Insurance as we know it, Tenure as we know it!!!!!! will be null and void. So unless you want to give all that we do have up!! Then sit down and say and do nothing, but if you want things to continue to get better with public education then contact your state representative ASAP (today if possible) and ask them to vote against the ALL Charter School Bill!! Before someone NON-CERTIFIED take your job from YOU!!!! ( This bill is a step back not a step forward)
