The Alabama Republican Party is proud to announce five elected officials from Lauderdale and Talladega Counties have decided to join the Republican Party.
Earlier this week, the Talladega County Republican Executive Committee and their Chairwoman Gina Grant welcomed District Judge Jeb Fannin and Circuit Clerk Brian York into the Party at their monthly meeting in the Talladega County Commission Courtroom. Chairwoman Grant believes the two men will be great assets to the Party and bring with them a wealth of experience in law and service.
This afternoon, ALGOP Chairwoman Terry Lathan was joined by Governor Robert Bentley at the Shoals Mariott Conference Center in Sheffield, Alabama for a press conference announcing three new Party members from Lauderdale County. District Attorney Chris Connoly, Circuit Clerk Missy Holman Hibbett and County Commissioner Faye Parker were all welcomed into the Republican Party by the Lauderdale County Republican Executive Committee.
It was a packed room, with elected officials and many Alabama Republican Party State Executive Committee members from Lauderdale and surrounding counties. Lauderdale County Republican Executive Committee Chairman Quinton Hanson welcomed the crowd and introduced Governor Bentley, who in return welcomed the three new Party members and talked about his life-long path as a Republican.
ALGOP Chairwoman Terry Lathan also welcomed the new members and discussed what a good example those who joined the Party today set by reaching out to their county party. “You did it right,” she stated, “You searched your heart…and then you reached out to the Lauderdale GOP.” In return, the Lauderdale County Republican Executive Committee extended an invitation to start a conversation with any who wished to become a member of their organization. Chairwoman Lathan applauded the process as a good role model for Republicans across the state.
While the county parties and the Alabama Republican Party welcome these new members into our ranks, this week’s announcements do not serve as endorsements. Our voters will be the endorsements.
Thanks to today’s announcements, the Republican Party holds its first majority in Lauderdale County. The Alabama Republican Party hopes to continue to expand our majority across the state.
