Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl issued the following statement on the passage of the Deputy Brad Johnson Act:
“The senseless murder of Deputy Johnson was a tragedy, and what makes it even more upsetting is that it was avoidable. One of the Republican Party’s priority issues is keeping our communities and our families safe. The ALGOP unanimously passed a resolution in support of reforming “Good Time laws” at our Winter Meeting this year. We are pleased this legislation, that will protect law enforcement and Alabama citizens, passed the legislature. I want to commend Senator April Weaver and Representative Russell Bedsole for their decisive action to get this issue addressed and keep violent criminals behind bars where they belong.”
