The Steering Committee is the governing body of the Alabama Republican Party. Meeting quarterly, its 21 members set the Party’s direction while promoting core Republican values. The committee includes the state chairman, vice chairman, treasurer, secretary, two RNC members, three regional chairs, and one representative from each of the seven congressional districts. Four Republican auxiliary groups also hold seats: the Alabama Federation of Republican Women, Alabama GOP Minority, Young Republican Federation of Alabama, and College Republican Federation of Alabama.
Regional chairs, congressional district representatives, and auxiliary members are elected by their districts or organizations. The finance chairman is appointed by the state chairman with Steering Committee approval, and the four officers plus two RNC members are elected by the full State Executive Committee.
