Terry Lathan

Our Rising Republican Start for this week is Terry Lathan, of Mobile, Alabama.

Terry has been an active member of the Alabama Republican Party for 25 years, helping to organize, chair and fundraise for countless campaigns at local, state and federal levels.

Terry also played an instrumental role in the recent highly successful ALGOP Summer Dinner, featuring Governer Rick Perry as our keynote speaker.

A member of the State Executive Commitee, Terry currently serves as the Chairwoman of the Mobile County Republican Executive Committee. She has also served as their Vice-chair, Treasurer and Special Events Chair.In both 2000 and 2004, Terry served as the Mobile County Chair for the George W. Bush Presidential Campaign.

In 2004, she and her husband, Jerry, were co-awarded the Alabama Republican of the Year Award. And in 2010, she and Jerry were co-awarded the Mobile County Republican of the Year Award. In all, she has attend five Republican National Conventions and hopes to make 2012 her sixth!

Terry is a Board Member and tutor volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater South Alabama. They named her their 2010 New Board Member of the year and she served as the 2010 Chiar of their Youth of the Year Banquet.

She is the current Sign Chair for the Providence Hospital Festival of Flowers, the largest annual hospital fundraiser and indoor flower show in the Southeastern United States. You’ll quite often hear “War Eagle!” come from Terry’s mouth and she is the current Special Events Chair of the Mobile Auburn Club.

Terry is also a former elementary school teacher and taught 5th and 6th grade for 10 years. She has been married for 32 years to Jerry, who is currently the ALGOP Finance Chair. They have two children: Brittany (27), who works for Paramount Pictures Wardrobe Department, and Adam (25), who is the Project Manager of The Lathan Company in Washington, D.C. They are members of Christ United Methodist Church, where Terry has served as a Sunday School Teacher, VBS Teacher and Sunday Service Prayer Leader. She is a current College Ministry food volunteer.
