This week’s Rising Republican Star is Jay Town, Assistant District Attorney of Madison County. Town has been with the District Attorney’s office since 2005 and focuses his practice on the prosecution of property and violent crimes. Town is also involved in the development and drafting of state legislation relating to the Alabama criminal justice system. An active member of the Republican Party, Jay is continuously committed to bettering his community, state and country.
Jay Town received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1995 and went on to obtain his juris doctorate from the Seton Hall University School of Law. Following law school, Town served twelve years in the United States Marine Corps as a Judge Advocate (JAG). Rising to the rank of Major, Town was Honorably Discharged on April 1, 2008. Major Town received several personal and unit decorations.

Jay Town has advised on many Alabama campaigns, including Luther Strange’s campaign for Attorney General and Senator Bill Hotlzclaw’s run for Alabama State Senate in 2010. Town will also be working on Attorney General Luther Strange’s reelection campaign next year.
The Towns support many Huntsville foundations including the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama, the Semper Fi Community Task Force and the Greater Huntsville Humane Society. Jay is a former member of the Huntsville Committee of 100 and is currently serving as Chairman of the Executive Council for the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation, which serves veterans and Medal of Honor recipients. The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently awarded Jay with a Medal of Honor for his charitable efforts.
Jay Town served in the United States Marine Corps for twelve years, but his dedication to his country and community did not end with his military service. From politics to community outreach, Jay Town has exemplified what it means to be a model citizen. His truly is a Republican Star.
