Steve Livingston is this week’s Rising Republican Star and the Republican candidate for State Senate, District 8. The district includes parts of DeKalb, Jackson and Madison Counties. Senator Shad McGill previously represented the district, but decided not to run for re-election this year. Steve Livingston is pro-business, against tax increases and pro-small government. We encourage voters in DeKalb, Jackson and Madison Counties to get to know Steve by visiting his Facebook page and volunteering for his campaign!

During the primary election, Sandra lost her valiant fight with lung cancer on April 28, 2014. Sandra asked that Steve continue on with the campaign for Senate District 8. With the help of family and many friends, they were successful with a primary win against a strong incumbent member of the House of Representatives. The race was named one of the Senate Races to watch by conservative blog Yellowhammer.

Steve will face off against Democrat who formerly served on the Jackson County Commission. The Alabama Republican Party applauds Steve for his strength and perseverance during this election cycle. We are confident that we will see a Republican victory in District 8! Jackson County is no longer the Democrat stronghold that it has been in the past!
