Dear Friend,
My hat is off to the Barbour County Republican Party! Barbour County, one of the most solidly Democrat counties in the state, held their first fundraising event in Eufaula over the weekend and had over 300 in attendance. That’s right! 300 Republicans in Barbour County!!!
Jeanie Tillis, Chairman of the Barbour County Republican Party, contacted ALGOP a few weeks ago and said they wanted to have a fundraiser and wanted former Governor Mike Huckabee as their speaker. She promised that she would have over 300 in attendance since they already have 300 active members of the Barbour County Republican Party. So, we partnered with Barbour County and secured Governor Huckabee for their first ever GOP fundraiser. Well, Jeanie made a believer out of us.
Governor Huckabee didn’t disappoint me or the Barbour County Republicans. He gave a magnificent speech Saturday night and was interrupted many times with applause. Watch this video of his speech to hear for yourself.
Huckabee flew to Eufaula Saturday afternoon right after taping his popular Fox TV show Huckabee and was blown away by the southern hospitality shown to him in Eufaula. Governor Huckabee is no stranger to Alabama. He has visited here often and carried Alabama in the Republican Presidential Primary in 2008. Many Alabamians have come to love his TV show.
Governor Huckabee recently drew a lot of attention when he stood up and said what a lot of conservatives were thinking when the President of Chick-fil-A, Dan Cathy, came under criticism for voicing support of traditional marriage. Governor Huckabee called for a national ‘Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day’ on Wednesday, August 1st. My staff and I participated in the appreciation day, as did countless conservatives across the nation. In fact, Chick-fil-A announced that Wednesday, August 1st, was their single highest grossing day in company history.
Governor Huckabee was especially excited about our endeavor to put Republicans in office in Alabama from the Court House to the White House.
During his speech he said “It’s not only time to elect a Republican President. It’s time to elect a Republican Senate, keep a Republican House and get our country back on track. But if we’re going to make that happen, I am convinced that it’s got to start not just at the White House, but right here at the Court House. I love that the Republican Party of Alabama has adopted this for its theme because it is absolutely bedrock true. We need to elect decent people with common sense from the Court House all the way to the White House!”
I want to especially thank Jeanie Tillis and the Barbour County Republican Party for the hard work they put into this event. It does show what can be done with determination and hard work and we look forward to helping elect Republicans to office in this once Democratic stronghold. Jeanie is to be commended for the extraordinary leadership she is showing and that is why we have chosen her to be this week’s Rising Republican Star.
This was just one of many events we are having all across the state as we continue to work to put Republicans in office from the Court House to the White House! It’s time that the elected officials who are closest to home truly reflect the conservative, Alabama values that our citizens hold most dear.
Come get involved with us today and help make a difference. We’re looking forvolunteers to help in local races and Battleground Patriots who are willing to help Governor Romney win in swing states. Please help fund our efforts at the local level by donating to theVictory Fund! Or if you’d like to help sponsor a volunteer deployed to an important swing state, donate to the Alabama Battleground Patriots fund.
No matter what, get involved today. Alabama can’t take another four years of the failed economic policies of Barack Obama and the Alabama Democrats who have embraced his leadership!
For the Cause,

Bill Armistead, Chairman
Alabama Republican Party
P.S. – Any day now, Governor Romney is going to announce who his Vice President Running Mate is going to be. Don’t forget to vote on our Facebook polland give us your opinion. Who should it be, and why?
