The Alabama Republican Party officially closed the qualifying period for the special election to fill the vacancy in Alabama House District 5 at 5:00 p.m. CDT yesterday, July 27.
The Alabama House District 5 seat became open following the death of Representative Dan Williams (R-Athens).
These five Republicans qualified with the Alabama Republican Party to run for the seat:
Ronnie G. Coffman of Elkmont
Danny F. Crawford of Athens
Mike Criscillis of Athens
Jerry W. Hill of Athens
Chris Seibert of Athens
The above candidates will be certified with the Secretary of State tomorrow, July 29. The special primary election for House District 5 will be held on September 29, 2015, with a special general election scheduled for December 8, 2015 or February 16, 2016 (depending on the need of a primary runoff election).
