Just last weekend, Stephanie Petelos of the University of Alabama College Republicans was elected as the Chairman of the College Republican Federation of Alabama (CRFA). Stephanie is certainly no stranger to Alabama Republican politics and has some big plans in store for the CRFA.
Stephanie says that the goal of the CRFA under her tenure will be more than just increasing the size of the membership. She wants to use the CRFA as a group that will educate students on campus about conservative principles that they can use in their daily interactions with liberal professors and ideologies.
The Petelos family is no stranger to Alabama politics. Her parents, Tony and Teresa, have both served in elective office in the past. Stephanie has one sibling, older sister Angela.
In 2012, Stephanie served as the Alabama chair for Young Americans for Romney. She has also worked on numerous campaigns over the past several years. One of her new goals with the CRFA is to foster a close relationship between the College Republicans in the state with the various Young Republican groups.
In addition to politics, Stephanie has traveled to many exciting places. Trips to Egypt, Israel, Greece and Japan have given her a better understanding of the world around her. Continuing along her path of over-achievement, Stephanie is a double major at UA. She is pursuing a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Environmental Studies and a BA in Economics.
Stephanie is an accomplished water-skier, a rock-climbing instructor, and a summer camp counselor. In 2012 she attended the Republican National Convention as well as the YAF national conference.
